Looking for the latest updates on COVID-19 and dogs? We’ve got them.

Wondering what it’s like to visit the vet in a reduced contact world? We cover that, too.

Maybe you just need help navigating daily life as you social distance with your pup. For example, how do you keep them busy while you’re working from home? Or minimize the stress from their altered routine?

Whatever the case, if it involves dogs and the current worldwide pandemic, it’s covered in our definitive guide!

A Tip From +THE HEALTHY HOUND

Reduce your dog’s carbon paw-print by using biodegradable poop bags and “green” cleansers.

HEALTHY HOUND HIGHLIGHT

Your Dog Eats The Same Food Every Day. It’s Time To Mix It Up!

Dieters survive on chicken breast and steamed broccoli. Maybe a few celery sticks here and there. Sure, it will keep you alive, but it’s not very exciting. Maybe that’s why so many diets fail.

Our dogs are stuck in the same humdrum pattern, with no choice as to what appears in their bowl every day. Don’t they deserve to enjoy their meals, too?

Transforming your dog’s food from boring to mouth-watering is as simple as replacing a handful of kibble with this nutritious meat, fruit, and veggie-rich meal topper!

Learn how Happy, Healthy™ Topper can boost your dog’s enjoyment and their health!

UPDATE

Suzy Wandered Into A Home As A Starving Stray. Look At Her Now!

In December, iHeartDogs brought you the story of a starving stray that found an open door in a storm. She wandered inside and found a forever home, a pair of loving paw-rents, a dog sibling, a tiny human, and a new life’s purpose.

Today, sweet Suzy is unrecognizable from the emaciated, injured stray she was just four months ago. Her family is so grateful for the love Suzy brought into their lives, they have vowed to pay it forward by helping other dogs.

See what Suzy and company have been up to and check out some super-heartwarming photos of this fabulous family!

A Tip From +THE HEALTHY HOUND

Corn cobs are NOT an appropriate springtime snack! They can block your dog’s intestines, cause dehydration, and remain in the stomach for months.

Here’s What Your Whiny Dog Is Trying To Tell You

Some dogs are more vocal than others – I’m looking at you Siberian Huskies! – but have you ever wondered what it is they are trying to tell you?

Sometimes it’s obvious. If there is a squirrel outside the window, chances are your dog’s barks, yips, growls, and whines are directed at him (or her).

Other times, your dog’s whining is an attempt to convey a message to you. Maybe they are hungry, scared, or just plain bored. Or maybe it is a sign of something more serious.

Here are a few of the most common messages a whining dog may be trying to send.

Protecting Your Dog From Ticks

by Dr. Ruth MacPete

Depending on where you live, ticks can be a year-round problem, but spring and summer are definitely their favorite seasons. Creepy, crawly, and sneaky, these little arachnids are excellent at hiding out on your dog as they suck blood and transmit dangerous diseases.

Most people know that certain ticks transmit Lyme disease, but don’t realize just how debilitating, if not fatal, it can be in dogs. And it doesn’t end there. Ticks also carry several other diseases that cause a variety of painful, life-altering symptoms.

Dr. Ruth MacPete, television’s famous “Pet Vet,” breaks down the best ways to protect your dogs from ticks so you can enjoy the warm weather together.

It’s National Pet ID Week, Is Your Dog’s Info Up To Date?

Every year, National Pet ID Week runs from April 17 through April 23. It is a yearly opportunity for dog and cat parents to ensure their pets find their way home should they ever become lost.

Collars and ID tags are an excellent start, but often come off while a pet is missing. In fact, if your dog is an escape artist, we recommend using an emergency break-away collar. It is better to lose the collar than have your dog get injured.

More effective than external ID methods are pet microchips. Implanted below the skin, these devices are designed to last a lifetime. Each chip carries a unique identification code that can be read with a special scanner.

When a lost pet is taken to a veterinarian or shelter, the scanner reveals the microchip identification code which is then traced back to the owner.

However, microchips are only effective if you keep your information up-to-date! So take this opportunity to review your dog’s microchip information and update your contact details.
