Wag Labs Inc. announced the Los Angeles launch of Wag!: The Mobile Dog Walking App, which enables dog owners to book dog walks instantly or on a recurring basis, as well as monitor the dog walker via built-in GPS tracking.

Wag!’s mission is to double the amount of dogs adopted and rescued by making it a lot easier to own and care for a dog. In addition to improving the lives of individual dogs and their owners, Wag! is dedicated to improving the overall state of animal welfare; for every mile walked with Wag!, 10 cents will be donated to Best Friends Animal Society through their partnership.

“We launched in LA because it is my hometown and I was tired of seeing such high volume at shelters and I wanted to do something to increase adoption rates,” Meltzer told iHeartDogs.

How to use Wag!

The idea is a fast, easy way to book dog walking that also helps animal shelters.

“We look forward to making pet ownership easier for thousands of Angelenos by bringing modern, Uber-like technology to an industry that needs faster response times for our busy lives.” said Jason Meltzer, CEO and Co-Founder of Wag Labs Inc.

To get started using Wag!, the dog owner must first download the mobile application from the app store. Dog owners would fill out where they live, their email, phone number and then fill out a dog profile which includes picture of the dog, type of breed, age, vets name and phone number as well as notes about the dog (triggers, likes, diet..etc.)

When you want to request a dog walk you put in the day and time you want a dog walk and Wag! will show you profiles of screened, trained, insured and bonded wag dog walkers available to walk your dog/s at the requested time in your neighborhood.

You can see videos and bios of the dog walker along with reviews from previous clients. You have the ability to schedule a meet and greet before the dog walks start, or you can book the walker based on the positive reviews.

Security

The company even provides free lockbox’s to maintain security of your house key. So your key is never out of your possession except for the time the dog walkers shows up to walk the dog.

While your dog is out walking, you get live GPS tracking of where the dog walker is taking your dog. Then when the walk is finished you get a full report of how long the walk lasted, how many miles they walked, pee and poop notification, notes from the walk along with picture or video. You can then rate the dog walker.

Wag! “A Dog’s Best Friend” is available for immediate download at www.wagwalking.com.

Don’t live in Los Angeles? Don’t fret! While Meltzer started in Los Angeles, they plan to expand in the very near future.
