When people see Tim Pink walking down the street, they often do a double-take. It’s not every day that you see someone walking 20 dogs at once– but for this dedicated dog walker, it’s just another day on the job. Since 2011, he has been providing a unique service to dog owners, helping their pets learn how to be calm and well-behaved in various environments.
The idea for this unconventional career path came to him when he realized he would need someone to take care of his own dog, a Doberman named Bluff, if he were to get a nine-to-five job. Instead of hiring someone else, he decided to become that person himself. Since then, his business has grown, and he now walks dogs of all breeds and sizes, ranging from four pounds to over 100!
The pack walks begin at 9:00 a.m., with the dogs being picked up individually before meeting up for the group walk. The goal is to challenge the dogs mentally, teaching them how to be calm and well-behaved in different environments. This includes practicing sit-stays and walking around other dogs while maintaining their position.
When distractions arise, such as other dogs or squirrels, Tim works to bring the dogs’ attention back to him. He might slow down, change direction, or go into a sit to challenge the dogs and help them learn how to handle these situations. The dogs in the pack have formed a close bond, with trust and respect evident in their interactions. They kiss and hug each other, creating a sense of family. Tim takes pride in seeing the dogs improve as they work through the program, with their confidence growing day by day.
For dogs with anxiety or other issues, having a knowledgeable and patient guide can make all the difference. Tim’s dedication to helping these dogs overcome their challenges has made a significant impact on the lives of both the dogs and their owners.
The future looks bright for Tim and his assistants, as he recently purchased a farm to expand his services. Soon, the dogs will be able to enjoy playtime, training, and individual work on the farm, providing even more opportunities for growth and improvement.
