My dog Molly is 5 years old and we are having a problem with her being aggressive. She has always stolen socks and taken them under the bed, sometimes barking with them. Back in October we had a lot happen very suddenly. We moved, got a cat and had her spayed all at the same time. Since we’ve moved she has been more protective of the socks. I thought maybe because since we’ve moved I try to keep them cleaned up and away from under the bed. Now though, there has become this nightly routine that lasts for maybe around an hour where she is so protective of the socks that she is barking, baring her teeth, and lunging at anybody that tries to even pass in front of the door way. She is better the nights my husband is home and will only bark, when he isn’t though it can be down right frightening.

that is a lot at once for her. She is very upset and the socks are the only thing that she can control. This is her security blanket. The socks are yours and that comforts her. the house is new, the cat is new and she was just made very uncomfortable by the spay.
When I moved years ago, my dog went through some changes as well.
I dont like the growling, but she is telling you that she is upset. I would leave your socks and maybe a shirt around for her. Her comfort is a bit more important that being so spotless. I thought that too when I moved in to my new house. It will be nice and clean HA, that didnt last. Allow her to get comfortable again. Give her socks, let her take them and just ignore her and dont take them away. If you feel she is shredding them and may choke, offer her something else in return for the sock, food or another toy.
Hope that helps

I’m not sure if this where it goes. I have a elderly basset girl whom has become very aggressive to where she has attacked and hurt the other dogs. Can someone help me please? Not sure why she is doing this.
