We adopted a pitbull/boxer mix this past January, he is an overall well behaved dog, but whenever we leave him alone he chews anything he can get his mouth on. Shoes, hats, wallets, mail, remotes, etc. We have bought him many chewable/durable toys but he destroys them in just a few days. To limit this behavior we decided to utilize our basement as his ‘crate’ during the day. But he has started to use the basement as his personal toilet and poops/pees everywhere when down there. We are back to now letting him free roam the main level of our house, but he is still having this accident issue upstairs now!

How do I stop the chewing and accident behavior?
