Hi guys,
One of my girls always has trouble with her ears, the vet cleans them, I clean them, but I’m afraid to go in there with a q-tip and she’s always scratching and they are red. What do you guys use to clean their ears?
Thanks a bunch! -

You can use Q tips, the ear canal is really further down then a humans, but I have heard using Coconut Oil in their ears keeps them clean. So we have been doing that, just rubbing some coconut oil inside the ear. Then you can gently go in and wipe any ear wax out easily without going in too deep. Good Luck!

I use 1 part apple cider vinegar and 2 parts water. I squirt some on a cotton ball and clean the inside of the ears. After numerous infections/red ears and countless (and expensive) prescriptions, my dogs ears have clear for the 6 months I’ve been using this. I started every day for the first week and ears were clear. I now just clean them once a week. Good luck!

I use a cotton ball for both of my boxers — I also try every couple days to put a wash in them – I use distilled vinegar mixed with water in a squeeze bottle and fill the ear as much as they are willing to let me — if you buy a wash from a vet it is pretty much the same thing just doesn’t smell as nice — It helps dry the ears out – it really helps my older one he used to have so many problems with his ear and he hasn’t had Amy issues for a while

Use a 50/50 solution of apple cider vinegar and distilled water….slowly pour about a teaspoon in the ear….fold ear over and massage for a few minutes…then take a cotton ball and shove it way inside the ear(It’s okay)…fold down ear and massage again for a few minutes…remove cotton ball…YUCK!!! Repeat as necessary and then move on to other ear and repeat the process! Works like a charm!

I’m just curious, have you asked the vet if this itching and ear issue could be allergy related? I ask because my daughter’s boxer (sibling to one of ours) has horrible allergies and until that was diagnosed, his ears were a constant issue but since he’s been on allergy meds, no issue at all…. just a thought.

Have u tried giving benadryl that helps if it’s allergies…… I give my 6yr old 4 pills sometimes 3x a day — my 1yr old gets 3 pills that helps as well
