Lily my 8 month old Shih Tzu is a picky eater. She will eat her food for a few weeks and than stop eating. We have switched foods a few times but can’t seem to find a food she will eat more than a month or two at a time.
She also has belly and bowel issues so the food has to be grain free.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your puppies eating situation. We have a 2 and a 1/2 yr old Shih Tzu who also had tummy issues. We started off Natural Balance and for some reason we decided to switch . We went with Blue Buffalo, but it was to hard on his belly. We spoke to our Natural Pet food store owner and she suggested Zignature. We have been giving it to him for over a year with NO issues at all!! Grain free and easy on their bellies. Here is the linkhttp://www.zignature.com/about_us.html
Hope everything works out for your baby !!

My 1 year shi/chi Bentley has very sensitive allergies to almost everything. HHe eats Hills Science for toy breed(dry food) and Nutro wet food every evening for dinner and I mix those flavors up so that he doesn’t get tired of it.The dry food I leave out for him to snack on anytime. All is grain free including his treats. He loves duck jerky! I hope you find a solution!

Hi,
My 3 year old little girl had issues from the time I brought her home with eating and then vomiting. I tried everything with her and finally a bout 6 months ago I met another shih tzu mom who starting feeding her babies Bill Jack for the same reason. My little girl loves it! I feed her the small breed adult food with organic boiled chicken. I chop it up together and she eats every last crumb. She hasn’t thrown up at all since I started her on it. I think it’s because the Bill Jack is small pellets that aren’t super hard so it’s easy for her to chew. There are many varieties of the Bill Jack food to choose from and it’s very reasonably priced. They carry it at Petco as well as PetSmart.
Good luck! -

You could go w/dog foods, but have you tried making food for your dog? Cook up some chicken or beef w/minimum seasoning and then add some veggies (my Shih Tzu loves carrots). If you can’t find a dog food that your dog will love then cook something for them, just add it into when when you make your dinner. Like if I’m cooking chicken for dinner I set aside the fat and bits of reg chicken and cook it up for my dog. Currently my dog eats Science Diet (Senior Small Dog) and we mix in “people” food w/it so she doesn’t get bored of it, but only about 2, maybe 3 times a week and only at dinner time. Mostly I just add a bit of shredded cheese to her every day dog food and she eats it just like that. Hope you find what works for your dog….My Tootsie! (Sorry about the second pic, I thought the first one hadn’t gone through)

I have a 5 year Shih tzu who had problems (health issues) and our vet suggested that Ziggy eat Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Gastro Intestinal Low Fat dry and canned food. He loves it. Good luck with your little guy!
