I just got a pill bull puppy, she is 4months old now she does pretty well, I started training her with puppy pads, now my friends have told me that was a bad Idea, I have noticed that she goes to the same place to urinate….I took up the pads, thinking that maybe if taking them away would show her that she will know not to urinate there, most of the time she will go out with the other dogs, or even go to the door and follow what they are doing, but , then there are times she just gets stubborn and goes on the floor but still the same exact place…I know that she is still quite young and i don’t expect that she will catch on since she is still so young, my vet told me to when she goes on that particular spot to put her in her cage, letting her know that she is not to go there am I doing the right thing and can you help me figure out a better way that will help her ??? I don’t like to scold her because sometimes i think that being so young her bladder just can’t wait…please give me you input…or suggestions

      Thank You
      Pam

Try putting the piddle pads back down and slowly moving them closer and closer to the door they use until you move it outside to where you want her to go.

My Aussie puppy was 9 weeks old when we brought him home. We have 2 other dogs so when they went out I also went out and if the puppy (Angus) did any of the necessary choirs I had a treat ready for him and praised him a lot. If I hadn’t seen him go out for a while I then took him out and again repeated the process. Angus was trained in 2 week for the most part, only a few accidents and then I would tell him I was upset with him. I also put him in a crate at night and as soon as I let him out in the morning I took him outside and then I learned that he not only urinated at that time but after a short play he also pooped usually 2 times, repeating the treat and verbal praise and petting him. I don’t believe that your puppy is being stubborn I think he hasn’t caught on yet. This is what worked with Angus and I believe that a puppy is happy to please his Mom when he knows what she want from him or her.

Oh, I forgot to say that we have a doggie door so that the dogs can go out on their own when they have to go.
