Her name is Duchess and she is a six year old Cockerspaniel. She has had seizures her whole life and we have had her on meds. Recently she has been very sickly. It’s an on and off type thing where she can get anywhere from mildly sick to extremely sick for a week or so and then she feels better. Then after a week or a few days, she feels sick again. This has been happening since the beginning of the summer and the times in between her sick days get short and she becomes sick for more days than the time before. I have gone to the vet multiple times only to end up running more tests and get more meds. Honestly, we all know money doesn’t grow on trees and the vet isn’t an option at this time.
Right now she just wants to eat grass and sleep. She is committing, she aches, and she is very slow. This is not normal at all. If anyone knows what might be wrong or what I can do to help her feel better, please please please let me know. -

Our old dog(poodle/Papillion) , now gone started having seizures because she T-boned my sisters lab mix. I took her to the holistic vet. She “witched” up a couple bottles of drops, gave her an adjustment and acupuncture. No seizures for 2 years. Gave her another adjustment and acupuncture. Lasted a year. I would look for a holistic vet. Don’t just take the animal of the meds without checking with your vet. You don’t know which ones need to to be weaned off of. I know you stated that a vet wasn’t an option, maybe there is some one that is cheaper and will accept payments, instead of the credit care or other credit program

First, make sure it isn’t the meds causing the problems. Find a vet or holistic vet that just doesn’t run tests that lead to nowhere. It could be inner ear, which cannot be seen. Also find a Reiki practitioner that works on animals. That will help her be more comfortable. An animal communicator could be helpful by chatting with the dog. Yep, I know, sounds nuts, but you asked for help and it works. Good luck.

Hello everyone, thank you so much for your help! I’m looking into all the options. A little update on Duchess: She can’t control her bladder at this point.She recently has lost her appetite almost completely and just lies around all day. She doesn’t bark at anything like she used to, she doesn’t play like she used to, she just aimlessly walks around and sleeps. My good friend, who just adores Duchess, has payed for tests and a visit to the vet. The test results come back soon. At this point, we are going to wean her off her current drugs and put her onto others with less side effects. Nevertheless, I’m still looking into your suggested options.
I’d like to add a side note. My dog has been having trouble like this her whole life, none quiet as worse as this though. But my point is that I really appreciate knowing that people, complete strangers, are willing to help. Thank you so much.

I”ve owned Cocker Spaniels for over 40 years, and it was heartbreaking to see your sick little one that look so much mine. Unfortunately my Lexi didn’t make it and had to be put to sleep. It is important that you have a vet that you have confidence. You don’t have to stay with the same vet, he should be able to give you diagnosis with a few blood and urine test. The humane thing is not to allow her to suffer in pain

It really sounds like she might be having pancreatitis. Do not give her any fat from your meals or anywhere else. I didn’t know about this, and I think I may have killed my doggie with kindness. Get her a low fat dog food, and low or no fat treats. I so wish I had known about the way fat can cause pancreatitis. I might have my little girl still.

Have you checked the possibility of Lyme Disease ?
