My name is Dazzle, I was abused and used as a bait dog to train fighting dogs. When I was too beat up to be of any use to them they dumped me in the desert near a busy highway. I was found and taken to Animal Control where I cowered in the corner of my kennel and whimpered in pain. One day they moved me to a cage near *The Room* and gave me a few treats since they said my time was up. It was almost closing time for the shelter and my time was almost up when an older couple came rushing in. They had lost their dog to a stroke a few weeks earlier and came in looking for a new BFF right after they got off of work. They saw that I was in a cage away from all of the other dogs and asked why, as soon as they learned it was my last day they said “no, it’s her first day” and even though the man tried to tell then I was too damaged to be a good pet they insisted. When we got to my new home I was so frightened of people that everytime anyone moved their hands or spoke I would cower and wet myself. Then they did the strangest things! They only spoke in whispers and kept their hands in their pockets and I slowly understood that I was safe and loved for the very first time. Soon they were taking me to work with them and boy did the people there spoil me. We have been family for 5 years now and I have a new brother who is also from a shelter. Life is good, very, very, good.
