On a cold snowy day in January, the 3rd to be exact, my breeder took me out of the basement, wet me down and told me I might be going to a new home. I heard a knock at the door, but I was so hungry I couldn’t even concentrate on the people in the house. I was just looking in the garbage and on the kitchen counters for some food. It had been days since they fed me. The people at the door looked nice, but I was scared. The breeder lady dragged me across the floor by one front paw. The people at the door were horrified. I heard the breeder lady tell them that I was 11 months old, but that didn’t sound right to me. I knew I was in the basement for longer than that. The nice lady told her to feed me and I’m so glad she did, I was starving. I heard the nice man say “pay the lady whatever she wants for him, we need to get him out of here”. They put me in their car and I was so relieved. I rode the whole way to PetSmart with my head on the nice mans shoulder. I knew that they had just saved my life. They bought me a huge bag of food, some treats, a comfy looking bed, some toys and some shampoo because they said I stunk! We went to their house, I got a long warm bath and felt much better after that. A few days later, my new mommy took me to the ASPCA for a special visit with a doctor. They knew I was older than 11 months right away. I had scars on me and my bones were showing. I did hear them say that I was a very handsome Boxer though. My mommy asked them to please go to my old house and check on the others. That was almost 1 year ago and my life has changed dramatically! Everyday, I go for a ride with Daddy to his work. I get to spend the whole day with him. I have been to the vet a few times, mainly to get rid of the worms (that took 3 months). I have since gained 20 pounds, no longer smell bad and they had me “fixed” (not too sure I like that though). I sleep in the bed every night with mommy and daddy and it’s so comfy. I celebrated my first Christmas this year. I got lots of presents and even ate some ham! It was awesome! I don’t know why these people decided to take me, I really was a mess, but I am so glad they did! My new name is Dexter and I am now a confident, obedient dog with a loving family! January 3, 2015 was the greatest day of my life!

What a beautiful family taking that puppy right then and giving it a home and love.

      Loved the story.
