Hello! My name is Kenzie and I do have a story to share! I was with these two people that had me for sale online in a not so sanitary place. I was sold and my original humans backed out. Why? I have no clue. I was laying in my play pen when I saw my soon to be humans come in the house. I was so excited!! When my mom picked me up….she immediately fell in love with me, as I did with her! Her son David also fell in love with me quick. I remember him saying “Mom, what do you think?”. She was holding me and petting me and said “I love her! She’s such a sweet girl!” David then said “Merry Christmas!!” and signed the papers and gave the people I was staying with money. Next thing I know I’m on my way to my new home!

After going to Pet Smart, getting a pretty red collar and some toys to play with…I also met my other dad! He was unsure at first but fell in love with me very quickly. I knew here I was going to find a lot of love, attention, and being spoiled rotten!

About a week before my first vet appointment I wasn’t feeling so well. I was losing energy here and there, and didn’t know what was going on. My foster parents told David and mom that I had my first set of worm meds, and vaccine shots and I was good for a week. One night I curled in a ball at the foot of the table. I moaned in discomfort as my tummy was aching. Mom and David noticed I didn’t feel good, and said I couldn’t wait until the first appointment….that I had to go to the Emergency Room. What? David scooped me up and mom drove fast to this place. I didn’t feel the greatest….but I knew that help was on the way.

David gave me to the Vet Assistant who was very sweet and I licked her saying hello! She immediately took me back while Mom and David were at the reception area. She took some blood from me, and vital signs. The doctor came in, and patted me on the head and told me I was going to be ok. I knew this tummy ache would finally go away.

Come to find out I had what was called Hookworm Anemia. I was full of round worms and hook worms. My blood volume dropped to 12% which had the doctor and everyone scared. David stepped in and said “Money is no object. Do what you have to to save her.” I knew they loved me! My night nurse Lori, took me in there to see them before I was admitted. She asked David if he wanted to hold me for a few more minutes before she took me back. He said “I would love to, but I love her more than that. I want this to get going as soon as possible!” Lori took me back and gave me my transfusion. I was in ICU overnight was was watched very carefully.

Long story short….I got heavy duty worm meds, and saw my family vet quite a number of times. I got rid of the worms, and am doing awesome!! My blood volume came back to normal on its own, my heart murmur from those disgusting worms is almost undetectable and I have a clean bill of health!! So glad my humans got me when they did, or I would not be telling this story. I love them as much if not more than they love me!
