I have tried 2 trainers one suggested treats but my dog is not treat motivated. the 2nd one had me make a sound as I jabbed her on her side with 2 fingers. I didn’t like that and a neighbor accused me of dog abuse. I have had dogs my entire life and rescues at that, I don’t abuse my dogs and stopped working with that trainer. I am at my wits end. I love walking my dogs I have 3 but she makes it very unpleasant. I am open to suggestions!

I have two matipoos a toy poodle and a matipoochi. My matipoos do the same thing, well did the same thing. I wouldn’t and still don’t walk them together BC they feel they “gang up” or pack up and have their way. I broke them of pulling and literally barking insanely at other dogs on their walk by doing this. It sounds weird and I got funny looks, but after a week… We were good to go. Each of mine me have a favorite toy. One has a bunny stuffed animal that is small and the other has a teething bone she refuses to part with. As we would walk their ears would automatically perk a bit sensing another dog. Do nothing. Wait until they see the other dog and begin to show out. Then call them by name in a calm voice , while the other dog starts to approach hold their favbprite toy in front of them. Mine were to concerned about making sure that they got their toy they started to ignore the other dog. It will take several times. But after they have drawn their attention to their toy give it to them and tell them Good dog and offer lots of praise. Why? Because they diverted their attention to something good and not acting crazy while seeing another dog. Let them walk with it for a few minutes and then take it back. Repeat every time another dog approaches. I know who wants to drag a toy around. But I’d rather have my maltipoo prance down the street with her toy then acting like a fool in the street..lol

I am a dog trainer, and own All Naughty Dogs Training in UT, if your pup is good with other dogs I suggest the dog park, if they are not good, then soft basket muzzle(make sure entire muzzle is covered ,no open front) and dog park, the more experiences with other dogs the better they will be. and dogs already in your house hold dont count, because they’re already considered part of the pack.. but the dog park gives the pup exposure to a variety of different dogs, which in turn makes it no big deal when coming into contact with other dogs or out of your pack dogs ,hope this helps you
