I have a 14 1/2 year old Shih Tzu that has this mammary gland tumor. I have opted NOT to have it removed since she is very small about 10 lbs soaking wet plus old, and don’t want to put her thru so much particularly at this age. At times she acts as if she doesn’t feel well but even this is rare. Can any of you tell me what behaviors she will have as far as pain. I love her and at the point where she is in pain, that is when I will help her cross that last bridge. Please advise.

I had a 15 year old who had cancer. It was not the mammary gland; the vet was just guessing that it was probably heart or lungs. She would stop and sort of freeze her legs and sometimes cry. Your vet should be able to get a blood sample and see if the white count is increasing. Don’t wait too long; you don’t want your baby to be hurting. I knew it was time because she was retreating. She didn’t want to sleep with me anymore and on the last day, she chose to sleep in my walk-in closet. I woke up, and when we made eye contact, she retreated further into the closet so I couldn’t see her. In the wild, dogs will leave the pack and go off to die by themselves.

I have three Shih Tzus. My 18 year old was not eating. drinking, and was walking around hunched over. Took her to the vet who did a lot of blood work and said she was fine. I thought she was dying so went on the internet for a naturopath vet. I bought a bottle of andenoid. Gaver it to her three times a day for a few days. She is back to normal and gained 2 lbs..She is also 10 lbs. I made a mistake earlier. The mmedication is ADIZONE. It is herbal. Got it from Amber Techmologies. I would try it. Worked for Kira Let e know

I’m not a expert but I had a Golden Retriever that had cancer…you didn’t mention if you had a biopsy done on the tumor to see if it was cancer or not….but you know till the end when we put her to sleep 13 1/2 years old last September…one would of never known she was in any pain.
She gave me no signs that she hurt. I could tell she didn’t feel good…she would sleep alot…but when she quit eating at and struggling to even come lay by me like she always did…I just knew when it was time to let her go.I now own a shih tzu thats a year old. Your girl is so cute!!!! what a sweetheart. I wish you good days with her.

My baby girl died in my arms three weeks ago she had cancer she was 5 years old she was given to me by a woman that was relocating at the age of 3 she had not been spayed yet I was told they should be spayed before there first heat to prevent cancer. I had the tuner taken off but before I took her back to have her staples removed she was already growing another tumor .
