1. exercise exercise exercise. my dogs use to take the sofa pillows out the doggie door and play tug of war. had pillow stuffing all over the back yard on several occasions. they now get walked an hour a day, 3-4 miles, and the destruction is no longer an issue. they are calm, quiet and tired…
2. activities. pet stores have a variety of busy puzzles to engage dogs with. one is a tippy toy that contains treats, but the dog has to tip it over and spin it around to get the treats (or kibble) out of the hole.
3. consider doggie day care where she can get socialization and play time while you are gone. -

When my Jacks were puppies i took them to doggie day care as they were too hyper to be left alone all day. As they became adults they calmed down, although my female is still very energetic, even at 8 years old. If she is tearing the house up i would crate her or take her to a day care. Make sure she gets some exercise if she is in a crate or she may go bonkers. Also a Kong toy where you can put stuff inside that she has to work to get out will keep her busy for awhile too. They are safe to put in a crate with them.

I don’t have Jack Russell’s but know they can be hyper!!! Check out the website wobblewaggiggle.com it’s a ball for dogs that they can play with by themselves. It makes all kinds of sounds and doesn’t take batteries. I’m thinking about getting one for my Boston Terriers!!

How about doggie daycare or a pet sitter? They both could exercise and play with your baby and wear her out!

I have a Jack Russell beagle mix. I understand what you’re saying. Jacks are just hyper. She is 8 yrs old now and has calmed down a bunch. A few months ago she chewed and clawed a hole through my bedroom door. I think alot of it is anxiety….. Separation anxiety. I was gone alot while my mom was in the hospital with very complicated heart surgery. She has a furbrother to play with. As long as I am home and she is by my side… She is fine. I have learned to just deal with it. She is my sweetheart. I am her pet parent and will love her till it is her time to cross the
