Camiyriyn ,my sweet goofy 5 year old greyhound boy, was diagnosed with kidney disease 3 weeks ago.
Anyone else dealing with this issue? Any suggestions to prolong quality of life for as long as possible? -

Mine was diagnosed over a year ago. She had to be on low protein so Hills KD and treats were marshmallows and sweet potatoes. I also suggest if incontinence happens, the bed wetting pads for kids. I covered my couch and her crate with them. Saved me a lot of time in laundry as I’d only have to wash those.

HI There,
I know you posted a few months ago but I wanted to reply anyway. I hope all is going well with your Sweet Boy! My Vet said my girl was having kidney problems because her Creatinine was slightly elevated. I completely freaked out and started looking into different treatments for her. I put her on kidney support, it’s liquid that you drop into their food, and then started asking other Greyhound people what to do. Because her Creatinine was the only result that indicated possible kidney problems we decided to recheck her levels in a few months and decide what to do from that point. Her levels had dropped so now we just watch her. The prescription food is so stinking expensive but I’m not sure what alternative their is. My suggestion is to research kidney disease in Greys, there are a lot out there, and talk to others who are in the same boat as you are. I agree with the pee pads. I use both the washable and the single use. I often us the single use ones as a bottom layer and put the washable on top covered by blankets. Mine have to “make” their beds nightly so putting pee pads on top just means they end up on the floor next to the beds. Whatever treatment path you have taken I hope he is doing well!
