My two Mini Schnauzers will on occasion “Dig” frantically and are totally focused, on the carpet, furniture or on a dog bed we keep in the corner of our bedroom. They don’t seem to hear or see anything except whatever it is that they are digging at. Usually I have to touch them lightly to get their attention to make them stop. Anyone know why they do this?

Those were bred to be ratting dogs. Maybe they are trying to hunt rats.
Also, it is quite common for this breed to invent some ways to entertain themselves if they are bored.
