Nationwide. Look into your employer benefits. I found out my employer pays part of the premium each check for our 3 dogs insurance. Nationwide was great when our I oldest dog tore both ccl at the same time. Had to have 2 separate surgeries. We were reimbursed within 5 days on both.

I have used Trupanion but their costs go up annually. It has covered like it said 90% for surgeries in the past so it has saved me but wish I had just put the same amount of $$ into a pet savings account bc I would have a lot more $$ then even what they cover.

MetLife. they cover everything from boarding to monthly prescriptions like heartgart to apoquel. i think I pay $100 a month for one large dog, one XL dog, and a cat. got it set as payroll deduction

Put about 250 away each month. Pet insurance doesn’t cover basics just emergencies if you must. Nationwide. I had embrace. But more money was spent on the company than the dog.

Depends where you live. In France pet insurance is not ness. Vets bills are lower because of less pet insurance! Just put aside an amount every month in case of emergencies. Works out cheaper. That and certain vets are not tempted to perform unnecessary procedures or tests.

I went thru my animal hospital when my husky was a puppy, just like humans, it’s well worth it in case anything comes up, you don’t have to come out of pocket as bad!!

Get a separate savings account for the pup. And have so much of your check direct deposited in it. Don’t touch it unless needed for the pup. The old saying out of sight out of mind.

We have Woolworths pet insurance we took it out for the first time for our current dog as he is a rescue and had no history for him. We have had 2 very big bills totalling $12,000 we only paid $3,000 of it so very thankful we have it. They also dealt directly with the vets made it very easy.

Save it for a rainy day. A 5-year-old dog will cost you more in premiums than a puppy, and the premiums keep going up every year. And, they’ll probably tell you it’s a pre-existing condition if anything is found wrong.

Unfortunately my insurance went far too expensive, on my own and limited income so had to cancel. Fingers crossed, will try and put some by.

Definitely worth getting insurance. With a 5 yr old dog, most insurances will want Vet records to prove the dog has been taken care of and has had no illnesses or injuries.
I have Spot insurance, we get wellness check, dental care, and major health coverage up to and including surgeries. My dog has been insured since he was 6wks old.
