What food do you give your Shih Tzu?

I fed mine hills science and meat here and there. He lived 17 years and retained same weight and energy levels..

I made the mistake of giving my dog vegetables with her meat. She ended up with bladder and urethra stones from all the oxalates. Once that was over with, I just put her on meat based diet and she has been wonderful. She has the normal Shih Tzu issues like collapse, trachea, and some heart stuff going on but as far as stones and urinary issues that has cleared up. That was about 7 years ago.

I use two half Wellness Complete for. small dogs and Badlands Ranch. Also I add extra supplements in there food. Please read the ingredients on the back of the bag. I spent two years researching dog food. Most of the dog food was cook in a very high temperature it coo most of the nutrition out of th food. Little Cesar’s but I steam chicken breasts and put on the side. She is very picky. Smells her water every morning to make sure it has been changed.

Stella & Chewys freeze Dried raw dinner patties! Our Shih Tzu puppy loves them! My nine year old Shih Tzu is so picky and he loves the adult ones.

From my experience, they’re finicky! I give my girl Rawabble chicken, with tbs of Science diet, chicken veg entree, and either some shredded chicken, burger, Hot Dog on top to entice her. Good luck!

Mine seems to like Purina Pro Plan EN. He always eats it up. His favorite food is whatever I am eating but he gets very little people food.

My female Shih Tzu is allergic to rice & peas.
I have a grain free Lamb and pumpkin kibble (Ventura (?))
They also LOVE Stella & Chewy Freeze dried raw dinner Pattie’s or meal toppers.
I’ll crumble a couple over top of their food.

I’ve made homemade food before, and freeze it in portion sizes for 2-3 days at a time.

They get veggies (green beans, cucumbers, carrots, and sweet bell peppers) for snacks.

They also love banana pieces, apples, or strawberries

Bil-Jac. It comes frozen and then you keep it in the refrigerator. Lots of chicken and other healthy ingredients.

Zignature worked for us! We’ve had 4 rescues that have all loved it. We buy the kangaroo. Piper was in terrible shape when we got her.

We use merrick , sweet potatoes and salmon. Great for shih tzu that have certain allergies.
