Did you know that sugarless gum can be deadly for your dogs?
Sugarless gum contains Xylitol, a sugar substitute that is harmless to humans, but deadly to dogs.
Sam Caress and Jordan Pellett found that out the hard way when their two-year-old dog, Luna, ate some sugarless gum and started vomiting. Sam and Jordan rushed Luna to the vet, and later found out that her kidneys were shutting down. The only humane thing left to do was to put her to sleep.
Xylitol is okay for humans, but it can cause seizures, severe low blood sugar, and liver failure in dogs.

Xylitol is not just found in sugarless gums but in a number of other types of food as well. It can be found in candies, peanut butter, medications, and other sweets. You can find a list of food containing Xylitol at Preventive Vet’s website.
So to all dog owners out there, please be careful of what you give your dogs, and make sure that anything that is hazardous to their health is out of their reach.
