My dogs have also suffered dermatitis due to the drought in California and the huge amount of fleas this year. I did a lot of research and decided to try a mixture of organic apple cider vinegar and water (5 parts water, 1 part vinegar). I sprayed them from head to toe (avoiding their faces of course) and massaged it into their coats. My minpin was the worst of all. He was constantly chewing on his fur and leaving bald, mean looking sores. Since I have started using my homemade spray, it has made a great difference. The sores have healed over and all my dogs coats are shiny. They don’t scratch as much and other than the vinegar smell, which goes away almost immediately, they seem to be well on the road to recovery. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you. Vinegar also repels fleas so I haven’t had to use any flea treatments either. I personally hate chemicals and now use this mixture as my go to cleaning product around the house as it also helps kill germs.
