Salmon Oil has helped ours. I just squirt it on their food, daily.

Might not be allergies, but it could be wheat.Also you might want to give up some salmon oil pills or put some coconut oil on them after you wash them with an allergy shampoo

He needs to be taking Apoquel for itching. Talk to your vet. There is a chewable available now. My dog had that problem. She had a shot of kenalog and is on Apoquel. Also, her doctor gave me some supplements with Omega 3 fatty acids to give her.

Definitely take your pup to a vet. I bet it’s fleas. Even if you can’t see them. I used to be a pet sitter and seen this many times. Good luck

Our dog was chewing his flesh. We had him tested. He is allergic to outdoors. He gets 2 allergy drops every day.
We tried everything else with no success.

I give mine benadryl every six hours during the day for now. When it gets really bad, she’ll get apoquell once a day. It is much stronger than benadryl.

Lemonade ins and care credit for just in case. You have to pay your vet first and then ins reimburses you so you still have to have the money

Care credit! Knock on wood, I had pet insurance for years and didn’t need it. The older my dog gets, the more expensive the monthly rate gets. Care Credit always has promotions interest free.

I have care credit and nationwide pet insurance. I used my care credit to pay for my labs ACL surgery and the insurance paid the entire bill within 2 weeks minus my $100 deductible. The surgery was $4600

I have CareCredit and even though I had no choice but to use it for my girls emergency life saving surgery, I would not advise anyone to use it for normal or routine treatment or items. These charges have an extremely short pay back time and then have a 27.9% interest fee on them. If you have any interest free charges all payments go to pay those off before any other charges are paid on. Meaning the one’s collecting the 27.9% interest may sit there for up to 36 months before any amount is paid on.
In my opinion, this is a rip off. Yet I’m not sure what can be done about it except pay for it.Diane M.
Both. I could never have saved the $16,000 for his chemo for lymphoma. Add emergency surgery at $2,200, broken toe and other medical issues. I charged his chemo and all the rest on CareCredit and paid it with the insurance reimbursement. Premiums vs reimbursement I came out ahead $13,000. His insurance even paid for his euthanasia.

I use Trupanion pet insurance they pay the vet directly 90% and I just pay for the difference. Saved me thousands when my puppy had to go to the hospital and stay overnight.

Care credit…when needed. Had a dog who died twice…brought back twice. Needed surgery for laryngeal paralysis. Bless Care Credit!!

My dogs old vet diagnosed him with “allergies.” I ended up getting insurance after that, and it didnt cover anything because they always found a way to link everything to allergies. Then, when i took him to a different vet, they told me that he doesnt have allergies, his skin rash because of the river we were always going into. Hasnt had a flare up in the last 2.5 years since getting that treated. but since he still has an “allergy” diagnosis, insurance still didnt cover anything. Canceled insurance and set up a savings account for my dog. So I put 100 per paycheck into his account and will use that when/if needed. And if i end up never using it, thats money that goes back into my pocket opposed to losing it to an insurance company.

I highly recommend pet insurance AND care credit. Care credit so the bill will be paid upfront, insurance so you can get part of the money reimbursed.

I consider my pet insurance a bit like my car insurance,for the big issues, the bonus is it covers some of the smaller problems unlike my car insurance costs about the same,

We have pet insurance on our mastiff… had a mastiff before him, no insurance and he got sick, really sick… racked up $6k in 4 days including putting him down… if we could have caught his illness in time, with surgery we could have easily spent $20k in no time… insurance buys peace of mind.

if you get when they are young insurance is great especially if its a breed prone to issues like cancer or joint issues. otherwise I do care credit for anything over $200 and get the interest free for however long i can and just make sure to pay it off in that time frame. This way I’m also not tempted to use a savings account for something else. I have savings account but it is for savings or BIG life thing like a broken down car or something
