When a lovable Labrador Retriever turned up in a neighborhood in Georgia, he quickly captured the hearts of the local residents. They affectionately named him Waylon and began feeding him, but despite their kindness, none of the neighbors provided him with the permanent home he longed for. So, Waylon continued his search, wandering the streets and hoping for his dream of belonging to come true. One day, as Waylon was strolling along a road, he spotted something that made his heart race with excitement—a doggy daycare bus driving by.
Filled with hope, Waylon took off after the bus, chasing it with all his might. He believed that if he could just catch up, his dream of finding a home would finally be realized. That morning, Tyson Cash, co-owner of Keller Creek, a doggy daycare in Carnesville, was behind the wheel of the bus. Tyson noticed the determined pup running after him, but due to the rules in place, he couldn’t stop and pick Waylon up. It pained Tyson to drive away, knowing that the dog was seeking help.
Determined to do something, Tyson and his wife, Ashten, posted a video of the encounter on Facebook, hoping that the wandering dog belonged to a family searching for him. But as the video spread, it reached someone else’s heart.
A woman named Sadie saw the footage of Waylon, and it deeply moved her. “The first video I saw was him chasing the daycare bus, and it absolutely broke my heart. He was running with all his might, trying to catch up and make the bus stop. I truly believe he was chasing his dream that day,” Sadie said. After contacting Keller Creek for more information, Sadie discovered that Waylon had been abandoned and had no known owner.
Without hesitation, Sadie decided to adopt him. As soon as Waylon arrived at his new home, he formed an instant bond with his new family. Craving affection, he spent hours curled up in Sadie’s lap, savoring the love and warmth he had longed for. “He’d just crawl right into your lap and sit there without moving for hours,” Sadie shared.
Waylon also met his new Labrador Retriever sister, Nellie, and the two dogs became fast friends. From the moment Waylon joined the family, Sadie knew she wanted to get him into Keller Creek, the daycare he had once chased with such determination.
A children's doctor had been evicted and had left items behind when she left. Among them was something alarming: a plastic storage bin, where a dog had been locked inside. If someone is this cruel to a small, defenseless dog, how can they continue to treat children as a doctor?
After receiving all of his vaccinations, Waylon finally got the chance to ride the bus he had dreamed of. His joy was undeniable as he joined Nellie and other dogs at the daycare, making new friends and delighting in playing in the pool and lounging on a unicorn float.
Waylon is now living his best life with a family that adores him. He and his sister Nellie have become inseparable, and the duo even shares their adventures on their own TikTok account.
