This program has helped many dogs in need, including a sweet little pup named Pixie!

Pixie is a 10-year-old Chihuahua with a black and brown fur pattern. When she first arrived at Needy Paws Rescue in St. Louis, Missouri, she was incredibly overweight, weighing 19.4 pounds. Her previous human was an elderly woman who loved to treat Pixie to Little Debbie Snack Cakes. Right away, the rescue knew she had to switch to a healthier diet.

Luckily, Pixie’s foster family helped during her weight loss journey. Thanks to the healthy food provided by Greater Good’s Rescue Bank, Pixie began eating a balanced and nutritious diet. She stayed in her foster home for nine weeks, and she lost 2.2 pounds during that time. The rescue made sure to find a home that would make Pixie’s health a priority.

“Are you looking for a post quarantine weight loss partner? Pixie has you covered. She is looking for a home that will help encourage and work with her to get her bikini bod going again,” Needy Paws Rescue wrote on Facebook. “Pixie is good with considerate kids, cats, and dogs!”

Living Her Best Life

Pixie now has a wonderful forever home. Her new humans will keep up with her diet to ensure that she lives a long, healthy life. While Pixie has lost a lot of weight since she was rescued, she still has more goals to reach. She might be a senior, but she’s not letting anything slow her down.

If it weren’t for the generous donations from Greater Good Charities, Pixie’s weight loss likely wouldn’t have been as successful. Those beneficial meals improved her health drastically. As a result, she’s living the dream!
