From The Greyhound Inmate Experience:
“Scotty came to us skinny, stinky with fleas and ticks and cuts and scrapes. He is one of the 600 greyhounds that have gone through the prison program. He came off a hauler after a long trip from Mobile, AL. He was shy and afraid, yet affectionate and loving. Together, our “journey to be free” will begin with a ten-day bonding and socialization period. Then we will begin training Scotty, preparing him for adoption and his Canine Good Citizen certification.
“Scotty has transformed into a handsome, healthy greyhound. Socialized and trained, he is ready for his forever home. My life has been transformed as well. I can say with certainty, I would not be the man I am today without the love of these dogs. Honestly, they have helped me more than I ever helped them. I definitely have a better understanding of love, patience, compassion, empathy, and what teamwork means.
“Rescue Bank who donates to our program has no idea how beneficial it is. The food for a 10-week session for 20 greyhounds is very expensive. The food we receive is high-quality food and the dogs love it! You can see first-hand the difference it makes. Their stools are firmer, the coats are shinier and they are more energetic.
The donations we receive from Rescue Bank helps us in a multitude of ways and allows us to purchase other necessities that the dogs need. The support we get means a great deal to us. It’s amazing what the program does for these majestic dogs and the handlers who train and tend to their needs. Your generous donations are a God sent. Words cannot describe our gratitude. All 40 handlers and 20 greyhounds thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”
