10 Super Senior Dogs Waiting For Their Forever Home

| November 7, 2015

In honor of the ASPCA’s Adopt a Senior Pet Month, we partnered with Best Friends Animal Society to bring you 10 super senior dogs who are absolutely wonderful and are looking for a new home, just in time for the holidays.

Best Friends Animal Society is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to bring no-kill policies to every shelter and rescue. Most important to them is finding that perfect family and they adopt nationwide.

Can’t adopt right now? PLEASE SHARE this post to help these seniors find a loving home!

The following dogs are available at Best Friends New York. To adopt, visit their website

#1 – Roxie

Meet Roxie, she is a 10 year old chihuahua mix who is as sweet as pie! Roxie loves to snuggle up and spend her days lounging away! (we think she looks like a Tuna Melts My Heart doppleganger, don’t you? Just another reason to make this cutie yours!)

#2 – Rocky Balboa

Rocky Balboa is here! This chihuahua may be little but he has a big personality! He may be 10 years old but he doesn’t let that slow him down. Rocky is looking for his forever home, might that be yours?

The following dogs are available at Best Friends Salt Lake City. To adopt, visit their website, call 801.574.2440 or email utahadoptions@bestfriends.org.

#3 – Tiger

Tiger is a ten-year-old Shih Tzu. He has a fun personality. He gets comfortable with new people rather quickly and once he is comfortable he wants to sit right next to them and interact. He gives kisses and can even be playful sometimes. He’s really good with other dogs his size and smaller. We have not yet tried him with bigger dogs, but he’s bold and confident. I have not introduced him to young children but he would probably do well in a home with children or a senior person looking for a walking buddy.

#4 – Eden

Eden is a gorgeous eight-year-old Australian Shepherd /Heeler Mix. She’s very well mannered and adjusts easily to new situations. She will be a very loyal companion to anyone who adopts her. She loves meeting new people and would make a wonderful hiking companion. She prefers to be the only dog in a home. She is not reactive toward other dogs but she does not enjoy or need their company. She is also not comfortable with small children, but could go into a home with kids 14 and up.

#5 – Scarlet

Scarlet is a nine-year-old female pit bull terrier. Mellow and very loving, she adores belly rubs and fully body pets. She would be good in a home with children. Good with some dogs and requires a meet-and-greet, but she is more interested in people than dogs. She has the best manners and is potty trained. She would be good in a home with or without children. She loves to go on walks and would do well with anyone who is active but also laid back and relaxed.

Skittles is just as sweet as the candy she’s named after! She’s a calm, mellow gal who loves to sit in your lap and be petted. She’s gets along well with other little dogs and enjoys short walks. With her size and easy temperament, Skittle would fit in well into just about any dog-loving home. Would that be yours?

#7 – Nuevo

Nuevo looks like a tough guy, but he’s really a marshmallow and a staff/volunteer favorite. This gentle giant walks well on a leash and takes treats nicely. He loves attention and is really a couch potato at heart. If you’re looking for a chill big dog, put Nuevo on top of your list. He’d make a fabulous best friend!

#8 – Bond

The name is Bond. Just Bond. And he’s ready for his next assignment: loving you! Bond really is a distinguished gentleman. He enjoys going for walks and relaxing on the couch. And he’s polite to everyone he meets. Adopt Bond today and gain a truly wonderful friend. Plus, he’s well connected. He just had a photo shoot with actress Emmy Rossum (Phantom of The Opera, The Day After Tomorrow). Afterward, Rossum declared herself a “Bond girl” because he charmed her so. He was also on the Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family Show in October for “Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.”

#10 – Beckham

Distinguished Beckham is a super sweet senior longing to find the perfect home. Beckham is a great, calm companion, but he’s still spunky enough to enjoy long walks and mellow hikes. Beckham does OK with some other dogs or would flourish as an only pet. What Beckham likes most is cuddling and giving kisses. He’d make a fantastic best friend. Come meet Beckham for yourself and see if he doesn’t steal your heart!
