15 Best Dog Foods for Collies with Allergies
My Brandy has bad food allergies. Besides allergy shots of Cytopoint every eight to ten weeks, the doctor recommended Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein kibble. It’s by prescription and you can purchase at Chewy. Brandy was not a fan. I’m not big on kibble either. So I asked for more options even if I had to cook. She said venison and rabbit were the best two things to feed her because these two animals are healthy eaters and are not feed the garbage like most of the proteins we eat. They are not on steroids or antibiotics. Fortunately, we have friends that are hunters so we can get the meat through them. Though I have also purchased both online D’Artagnan Meats. You can also check to see if your local mom and pop pet store carries venison and rabbit. I understand some do. Just watch the ingredients. Hope this helps and good luck.

Our girl is too. Our Doc did blood allergy testing and found she is allergic to several grasses and trees. Especially Cottonwood and sage. We also on prescription dog food only. No treats or any thing except the dog food for 12 weeks. She is getting much better. Then I can start adding back is if she is allergy free I bath her once a week with a special shampoo. She is doing so much better.

What kind of reactions are you seeing? Our boy seems to have a sensitive tummy with no obvious trigger. We have him now on the Biome prescription diet by Hills. We add some Glandex (also prescribed by the vet to keep his bowel movements firm) and a probiotic. With that, we mix a little bit of wet food with his dry to keep him interested. Chicken seems safe, and salmon, so we stick with those flavours. The Biome seems like a miracle food for sensitive tummies.

Home cooked. Check out a recipe call Satin Balls. It helped my Shepherd, he was also allergic to everything and he scratched constantly. Homemade yogurt from raw dairy topped on his food also made a big difference. Just a 1/2 a cup. Good luck

I have one with chicken allergies. Foods that I do add to her non chicken kibble that she does well on is salmon, cooked eggs, cooked sweet potato and pumpkin purée.

I use Pro Plan Sensitive for my dog. It’s for sensitive stomach it’s salmon and rice. For my smaller dogs I use Science Diet for sensitive stomach and skin. It has a sheltie on front of the bag. The Pro plan has an Irish Setter on front of the bag.

I have a cross border collie and she is very allergic, manly chicken. I cook for her rice, meat (no chicken) lots of vegetables and coconut oil. All her allergies have disappeared.

My 2 have very sensitive tummies and I switched them to Arden Grange sensitive ocean fish from james well beloved – they have a handful of dry kibble with boiled chicken they absolutely love it and no issues since the switch

Nutro Limited Ingredient Lamb and Sweet potato. There is also venison and sweet potato. Its has gotten very pricey since inflation has hit. It is now $96 for a 22lb bag. We started out paying $60 for a 22lb bag. Ugh!
