While the Labrador Retriever has taken the United States by storm year after year, there are plenty of people and families out there looking for a smaller companion. The Beagle is a small- to medium-sized hunting dog in the hound group. It originated in England as a rabbit hunter and is still one of the most prized rabbit hunting dogs today. They are gentle-natured dogs that make excellent family companions.
