On December 31st, 2020, you helped us fly over 100 dogs and cats from overcrowded Louisiana shelters to no-kill shelters with open space in Wisconsin and Michigan.

Just in time for the new year, these dogs arrived in facilities where their chances of adoption are much, much higher. Thank you to all the kind Heroes who helped these pups start their new lives on the New Beginning Pet Rescue Flight!

New Beginning Flight

When items are purchased from the iHeartDogs’ Second Chance Movement Collection, miles are donated to Greater Good Charities. In this case, the miles accrued in December went toward Wings of Rescue, who ran the life-saving New Beginning Pet Rescue Flight across the country.

Four of the lucky pups on the flight were Tiny, Sparky, Cocoa Mellon, and Coffee Bean. Tiny and Sparky were both left alone in the cold on different occasions while Cocoa Mellon and Coffee Bean lost their mom to COVID-19. All four are now in a safe, new location, ready to find loving homes.

The Day of the Flight

At 8:00 AM CST on New Year’s Eve, volunteers began loading up the flight in Hammond, Louisiana. 105 animals boarded, and by 9:00 AM, they were off to their new beginnings.

Dogs on Flight

By noon, the flight landed in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where 50 dogs and cats were transferred into the care of the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS). Some of those animals will go to partnering Wisconsin shelters like Lakeshore Humane, Humane Society of Sheboygan County, and Humane Society of Jefferson County.

At 12:45 PM, the flight was up in the air again and headed toward Michigan. It landed in the town of Belleville at 2:30 PM. The rest of the rescued animals were dropped off and brought to the Michigan Humane Society. Now, all 105 animals are ready to find their new forever families, which are, thankfully, closer than ever!

Dog Rescue Signs

Thank you to all the kind heroes who purchased items from the Second Chance Movement Collection to help these dogs get a fresh start to life. In Louisiana, the shelters were overcrowded, especially during the pandemic. These donations helped save the lives of these cats and dogs and gave them a new feeling of freedom. So, you truly are a Hero in their eyes.

Shop & Transport At-Risk Pets To Safety!

Your purchase of any of the following items provides rescue transport miles. These miles help rescue groups save pets from overcrowded shelters, taking them on a trip by road and by air to areas with low shelter populations, where loving families are waiting to adopt.
