Whenever you shop at the iHeartDogs store, part of that profit goes to Greater Good Charities. Greater Good Charities helps lots of animals in need through its GOODS Program, which donates food and other essential supplies to shelters and rescues. Those donations can be life-saving for many animals in need. Plus, the donations can also help families keep their furry friends healthy during tough times.

San Diego Humane Society is one of the many organizations that benefit from the GOODS Program’s donations. They often use the food donations they receive to help struggling pet parents in the community. They partner with other organizations like FACE Foundation and Orange County Animal Care to hand out the food to families who have a hard time affording it otherwise.

FACE Foundation offers financial assistance to low-income families, people experiencing homelessness, disabled individuals, veterans, senior citizens, and other people at risk of losing their beloved pets. Orange County Animal Care runs a drive-thru pet pantry every month for dog parents in need. With these organizations teaming up with the San Diego Humane Society, they can help more dog owners than ever.

There are four high-traffic daily distribution sites in the San Diego area for these food donations. So far, over 40,000 pounds of Nutro pet food has gone out. In only a two-month period, about 13,000 pet parents and tens of thousands of pets have received healthy pet food. Each family who receives this food is extremely grateful because it helps them keep their dog with them even during hard times.

Keeping Dogs and Humans Together

Helping dogs in shelters and rescues is crucial, but there are many dogs who have already been adopted that need help too. That’s why many organizations in the San Diego area are passionate about making sure dogs can stay with their loved ones no matter the circumstances.
