Every time you shop at the iHeartDogs store, part of that profit goes to Greater Good Charities, an organization known for helping animals in need. Through Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program, animal shelters and rescues receive essential donations, such as healthy food. These donations can save the lives of animals who haven’t been treated well, including many puppies.

Seven frail puppies were abandoned in the country with no one to look after them. They were nothing but skin and bones, so they desperately searched for something to eat. When someone found them near a creek, two of them were fighting over a dead opossum because it was the only thing they could find for food.

Rescue puppies by pool

Fur Babies Adoptions and Rescue in Muskogee, Oklahoma, took all the puppies into their care. Upon further inspection, they realized that the puppies were all covered in scars, signifying that they liked had to fight over food often just to survive. Luckily, they would no longer have to desperately search for meals now that they were in the rescue’s care.

With access to healthy food, the puppies gained weight and became healthy. Once they were in good shape, they were spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and dewormed. Then, they were sent to an Iowa rescue where they’d have a better chance at finding their forever homes.

It’s All Possible Thanks to Dog Lovers Like You

Sadly, it isn’t rare to find starving puppies abandoned in Oklahoma, but with food donations from the GOODS Program, Fur Babies can take in as many dogs in need as possible. The donations help the rescue save money on dog food, allowing them to use their funds on other areas of care, such as medical needs, instead.

Starving puppies rescued

“We are a non-breed-specific rescue. We help three small shelters with their dogs. We could not afford to buy food for all of our dogs and cats, much less help the smaller shelters [without these food donations],” Fur Babies wrote. “We help two other rescues as well provide food for their pets.”

So many dogs benefit from these food donations. Whenever you buy products from the iHeartDogs store, you’re helping animals like these puppies get nursed back to health. Thank you to all the heroes who have shopped at iHeartDogs to make an impact!
