The proprietor of a gas station reached out to DAR Animal Rescue, reporting the presence of a puppy that had made a temporary home within a tire on the station’s grounds. Initially, there was a concern from the owner that the dog might be suffering from paralysis due to his lack of movement. However, this assumption was quickly dispelled upon the arrival of the rescue team. It became clear that the puppy had chosen the tire as a refuge, a place where he felt a semblance of safety in a world that had been unkind to him, immobilized more by fear than any physical ailment.
Responding with urgency, the rescue team arrived at the scene to assess and assist the scared but endearing canine. Demonstrating patience and compassion, one of the rescuers approached the dog, making sure to position herself at his level to avoid intimidating him. Her gentle touch and calming presence were met with a positive reaction from the pup, who, despite his initial timidity, showed his appreciation by wagging his tail. This moment marked the beginning of a new chapter for the dog, as the team now focused on the delicate task of coaxing him out of his makeshift shelter and into the care and warmth of a loving environment. As the rescuer pulled him from the tire, she discovered that chunks of his ears were missing. Someone had cut them crudely with a scissor. With the combination of his injuries and the lack of support from other humans, the dog had given up. He was waiting in the tire for his time to come. The woman picked him up out of the tire and held him close. He, with his beautiful puppy heart, thanked her for her kindness. It was quite the moment!
The pup, later named Cooper, was taken to the veterinarian and treated for malnourishment, dehydration, and scabies. He faced many challenges in order to recover, but his new human friends had all the faith in the world. Each day, the pup found in a tire, made progress. Cooper’s transformation over the course of his healing journey is incredible. By the end of the video, he’s barely recognizable! You have to see it for yourself… we can promise all the feels!
