Bella’s journey began in hardship. She spent most of her life confined to a cold, concrete kennel in a Romanian city pound. Rarely did she get a chance to step outside or feel the warmth of human companionship. She suffered from fleas and had untreated spleen and liver issues that added to her misery.

Just when it seemed like this was all life had to offer her, a glimmer of hope appeared. The rescue organization Howl of the Dog stepped in just in time. A staff member visiting the pound noticed Bella and reached out her hand. Bella gently licked her palm, showing her sweet and gentle nature and her deep desire for love.

That very day, Howl of the Dog rescued Bella. They brought her to their shelter, giving her a comfortable place to rest before her veterinary appointment. Almost immediately, Bella seemed more at ease than she ever had at the pound.

“She seemed to have instantly understood that she was being rescued and that she’s safe,” Howl of a Dog said.

From the moment she arrived at the shelter, it was clear that Bella loved being around people. She sat right next to her rescuer on a couch. Overwhelmed by the events of the day, she fell asleep on her rescuer’s lap.

“She was so trusting and relieved to be finally rescued that she simply fell asleep in my arms while we were heading to the veterinary clinic,” Howl of a Dog wrote on Facebook.

At the veterinary clinic, Bella received supplements for her spleen and liver. She was also given a medicated bath that got rid of her fleas and soothed her itchy skin. After her appointment, Bella and her rescuer returned to the shelter, where she settled in quickly. She ate well to regain her weight and enjoyed playing with the other dogs at the shelter.

In the weeks following her rescue, Bella transformed from a scared and neglected dog into one that is happy and content. “Bella is doing fine now, receiving all the care she needs to regain her health and joy,” Howl of the Dog said. “Once she’s completely recovered she will be up for adoption.”

Bella’s life has been filled with challenges, but now she finally has a safe place where she can relax and be herself. We’re overjoyed that she has found such a caring group of people to help her.
