Cynthia and Andre loved to explore the outdoors, so they moved to carry out an adventure filled life in Colorado. They had a deep love for the mountains, and wanted to find a pup that enjoyed hiking just as much.

They adopted a rescue dog named Henry in 2014, and were ecstatic to find that not only did this pup enjoy adventure, but he was born for it!

“On Henry’s first hike, he immediately went to find the biggest rock around to stand on top of to get a higher view. Ever since then, we call him our little mountain goat for not only his climbing skills but for his love of the outdoors.”

After falling in love with Henry, they wanted to add another furry family member to their crew. Henry would often get anxious during the couples time away from home, so they knew they needed to find him the perfect friend to help to occupy his time.

They were on the search for a cat that was a bit more on the wild side, that could fit in well with their  lifestyle. After a few months of searching, they found an adorable Siamese mix named Baloo. Little did they know, they brought home a buddy for Henry that loved the outdoors just as much as he did!

It seemed as though Henry and Baloo were made for each other. Henry found absolute joy with his new feline friend, while Baloo found the comfort he was lacking since his time spent as an abandoned kitten. They were exactly what each other needed, and set off to enjoy a life filled with exploration, together.

This family has hiked, camped, snowshoed and stand-up paddle boarded together in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Texas, California, Oregon and beyond. They have went on the most breath taking journeys, and document it all on their Instagram @henrythecoloradodog. They have built quite the following of adoring fans!

If you are anything like the rest of us, you may wonder, how do they keep these two from running off on their own adventures during their hikes? The couple explains how Baloo wears a reflective leash that the couple holds on to during more difficult hikes. During longer hikes, Baloo even hangs out in their backpack, and knows to meow when he wants to get out and explore! Henry on the other hand, is incredibly loyal, and stays by their side at all times. He wears a bell for any of the times that he may roam a bit further, making sure to announce himself to any wild animals that may be in the area.

He even acts as the couples “guard dog” as he begins to act a bit anxious if there is a wild animal near. This way the couple can turn around, and find a safer route.

This incredible crew sure has an amazing sense of adventure, and will no doubt continue to explore these lands to their hearts’ content. We can’t wait to see where they go next!
