Whenever you shop at the iHeartDogs store, part of the profit goes to Greater Good Charities, an organization that helps lots of animals in need. Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program donates food and other essential supplies to animal shelters and rescues. Those donations can save the lives of many dogs, including those that live with humans who are having trouble supporting them.
Angel Hearts Rescue Inc. in Mission, Kansas, is one of the animal organizations that receive donations from the GOODS Program. They use those donations to help homeless people in the community care for their pets. Many homeless individuals have dogs and cats that were found as strays, abandoned, or given to them for free. Even though the people don’t have much, they do everything they can to provide for those animals.
Unfortunately, since it’s difficult for these individuals to provide pet food, they often give their dogs human food. Some human foods can be dangerous for dogs. One dog named Bandit had to be rushed to the vet after eating rice and shrimp with spices. His face swelled up, so Angel Hearts helped the owner get Bandit the medical care he needed.
Thus, donations from Angel Hearts not only keep these dogs healthy, but they also reduce the risk of emergency situations like Bandit’s.
Keeping Homeless Dogs Fed
Uplift Organization takes out trucks to feed the homeless community, so Angel Hearts often joins those stops to hand out dog and cat food too. About 95% of the homeless people that Uplift feeds have pets, so these food donations are crucial. Angel Hearts mostly donates dry food, but they will also offer wet food if they have any available.
Because of donations from Greater Good Charities and MuttNation, Angel Hearts can feed more pets than ever. Without having to spend as much on food, the organization can use its funds to help the homeless community with veterinary needs.
“The GOODS Program is a big part of how we are able to continue to take out dog & cat food,” Angel Hearts Rescue Inc. wrote. “The veterinary and emergency vet bills continue to add up and the donations have gone way down the last two years.”
You help lots of animals in need when you buy items from the iHeartDogs store, including the pets in the homeless community. Even small purchases can make a difference. So, thank you to all the heroes who have shopped at iHeartDogs to make an impact!
