Anyone who adopts a senior dog has a big heart. But adopting two bonded senior dogs is an even bigger act of kindness and commitment.

When two 14-year-old dogs, Jack and Maisie, were surrendered to a shelter together, they kept getting overlooked because of their age. They’re both small, fluffy dogs, but people weren’t willing to give them a chance. Many dog lovers fear that they won’t get much time with a senior dog, but a dog’s final years are often the most meaningful to them. So, when a woman named Jenna saw Jack and Maisie, she knew she had to bring them home.

Changing the World for Two Dogs

Jenna has been posting about Jack and Maisie for years now, but she recently turned to TikTok to share a heartfelt video about their journey. She met the pair after they were surrendered to a rescue center. Both dogs longed for love and cuddles, and Jenna knew she could give them that.

“So many of you have asked about Jack and Maisie so I thought I’d share their story. I hope it’s a reminder to never overlook the oldies in rescue centres, because they’ve got just as much love to give and deserve all the cuddles in the world,” Jenna wrote.

Despite their age, the two dogs have so much life left in them. Their tails are always wagging, and they love going for long walks on the beach (which sometimes end with them getting carried).

Jenna goes out of her way to make every day exciting for the senior dogs. They ended up quickly becoming her best friends, and every time she gives them love, she sees how grateful they are.

Still Going Strong!

It has been 4.5 years since Jenna adopted Jack and Maisie. Now, the pups are 18 years old and still going strong. They’ve required some specialized care recently, but Jenna uses that as an excuse to spend even more time with them.

“Every day has always been about making it their best! Bucket list on repeat! So not only does this mark another very treasured milestone, it’s also been 4 incredible years of beach trips like this, endless treats, games, long walks, carried walks, garden sun dozing, evening cuddles on the sofa and doing everything possible to make their tails wag like crazy,” Jenna wrote on their 4-year Gotcha Day.

Jenna doesn’t know how much time she has left with her two senior pups, but she will continue to make the most of it every step of the way. Jack and Maisie are so lucky to have a human that cares about them so much!

Next time you’re looking to add a new canine companion to the family, don’t overlook the seniors. There are many rewarding reasons to adopt an older dog, as Jenna has proved in her social media content!
