Having moved into the neighborhood in 2004, the Mazzarella family found themselves warmly welcomed by Sally, the neighborhood’s longtime resident. Sally, an elderly woman with a heart of gold, greeted the newcomers with a plate of homemade cookies, endearing herself to the Mazzarella children. It wasn’t long after this welcoming gesture that Brody sauntered into the Mazzarella household, his gentle nature immediately forging a bond with Sally.
Brody and Sally’s bond was truly special, characterized by shared moments watching their favorite weather forecasts and accompanying Sally on her walks to church. Whether it was tending to her garden or simply enjoying each other’s company, Brody and Sally’s friendship was undeniable.
As time passed, both Brody and Sally grew older, their bond deepening with each passing day. However, following Sally’s mild heart attack, she made the difficult decision to move to a senior living facility, leaving Brody behind. Though Sally celebrated her 95th birthday surrounded by loved ones, Brody felt her absence keenly, his daily visits to her former home filled with longing.
Determined to maintain their friendship, Dave now assists Brody in his weekly visits to Sally’s new residence, located a few miles away. With each visit, Brody exudes a sense of ownership, striding confidently as if reclaiming his rightful place by Sally’s side.
