Chester was found hungry, dirty, and sad on the streets of California. Luckily, he was taken to a local shelter where he would be safe. Workers knew he might be spending his final days alone in a kennel. They couldn’t bear the thought of his adorable face being so lonely. Chester had such sorrowful eyes that told them the only thing he ever wanted in life was to love and be loved in return.

Another Chance That Paid Off

Chester’s life may have had more downs than ups but things were about to change. The sweet boy was networked from California to one of START Rescue’s receiving partners, Oregon Dog Rescue. The Oregon Dog Rescue offered Chester a spot at their facility. This meant a better chance at finding his furever family! START Rescue transports dogs to places where they have a greater chance of being adopted which is exactly the happy ending Chester received!

Chester soon found a wonderful family to adopt him and, well, we think his “after” photos speak for themselves!

He now enjoys many adventures with his new family. They’ve taken trips to the beach and even played in the snow! Most importantly, they spend a lot of time snuggling on the couch. Chester loves all of the attention and he is so thankful for the second chance he was given by the START Rescue.

About Oregon Dog Rescue

This rescue was started 13 years ago by two women with a passion for helping furbabies in need. It is a no-kill shelter that keeps their doors open for any pup that needs love and care. Most of the dogs come from local shelters that are overcrowded and unable to help, or from families who are no longer able to care for them. The shelter is able to care for up to 65 dogs at once and they typically see up to 175 pups pass through their doors each month! The entire operation is kept running by donations and a small staff of two full-time employees, 12 part-time employees and 25 amazing volunteers with hearts of pure gold!

Rather than being stuck in depressing kennels, the doggos at Oregon Dog Rescue get to spend their time in playrooms. These playrooms allow them all to interact with people and play with other dogs all day long. Each new pup receives a thorough exam, microchipping, vaccinations, and any needed medications. Since they started in 2007, the Oregon Dog Rescue has found homes for over 7,000 loving dogs!

It’s because of people like you that START Rescue and Oregon Dog Rescue can keep saving innocent lives. Thank you!
