“When we left the food stand, we saw her standing on the sidewalk a few blocks away. She was definitely skittish, but based on the scars on her face and body, it’s understandable. It’s also when we realized she was pregnant,” Jacks recounted. The scars told a story of hardship and survival, making the couple’s hearts ache for her even more.
