There’s something truly special about the friendships dogs form—not just with people and other animals, but sometimes with objects too. Meet Lucky, a lovable dog who has a best friend in the form of a teddy bear.
Six years ago, Lucky’s owner, Terry, gave him a teddy bear, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. Lucky took his bear everywhere he went, whether it was snuggling in his bed or running around the backyard.
But one night in January 2019, Lucky accidentally left his beloved bear outside. That night, a big rainstorm rolled in, and by morning, the teddy bear was almost destroyed.
Terry knew how much the bear meant to Lucky, so he shared the unfortunate news with his wife and daughter, Michaella, who was away at college. He sent them a series of text messages about the bear’s condition.
At first, Terry was worried there was no hope for the soggy bear. But then, in a playful turn, he texted that he had found a slight pulse! Determined to save the bear, Terry set up an IV and performed ’emergency surgery.’ Once the bear was ‘stable,’ he let Lucky and his sister Laci come in for a visit.
Lucky was overjoyed to see his bear on the mend. You could see the happiness on his face. Soon enough, the teddy bear was as good as new, and Terry shared a photo of Lucky happily playing with his best friend again.
Michaella thought her dad’s dedication to his dog was both sweet and hilarious.
“With the first week of classes starting my dad wanted to send me a little something for a pick-me-up,” she told the Press Association. Michaella also explained this isn’t the first time her dad has done something like this.
“My dad’s been doing things to make my mom and I laugh my whole life,” she said. “He always has gone the extra mile to bring a connection between the three of us. His time he gets to spend with us has always been limited due to his work schedule, so he has always tried to make the best of it.”
Touched by her dad’s efforts, Michaella posted the entire text exchange on Twitter, and it quickly went viral. People loved seeing how Terry went out of his way for his dog! One person even had the perfect response to the photo of Lucky and Laci visiting the ‘patient.’
Terry’s kind gesture brought smiles not just to Lucky, but to Michaella and countless others who saw the story. We’re so happy that Lucky’s bear is back, and that he has his best friend by his side once more.
