After a horrible car accident in Savannah, Georgia, a sweet dog name Pigeon was left with her rear legs paralyzed. Sadly, her original owners abandoned her after this incident, and she was left struggling to move. Not long after, a kind dog-sitter named Erica found Pigeon and changed her life for the better.

When Pigeon came home with Erica, she could move fairly well on her own, but she had to hop around using her front legs to pull her. Unfortunately, she had some wounds from the accident that prevented her from getting the wheelchair right away, so she needed time to heal.

She was a sweet and energetic pup, but it was clear that she was frustrated. She moved slow and wasn’t able to run around like the other dogs, so that’s when Erica decided that something had to be done.

To begin Pigeon’s recovery, her new mom enrolled her in a physical therapy and rehabilitation program at Fetch Canine Rehab. Pigeon had to go through lots of different exercises and aqua therapy sessions, but many of these activities were disguised as play to keep Pigeon engaged. In the end, all the hard work was worth it.

“She’s just so capable that you forget that she’d paralyzed,” Erica said on Good Morning America.

Once Pigeon regained a lot of her strength, Erica decided that she was ready to give the wheelchair a try. Pigeon got her wheelchair custom-fitted at Eddie’s Wheels, which is an organization that specializes in making wheelchairs for animals to help them walk again.

As soon as Pigeon was strapped into the wheelchair, she had the most adorable reaction. She immediately took off running with no problems at all. It was as if the wheelchair had been a part of her for her whole life. No one had ever seen a dog adjust so quickly and comfortably to a set of wheels.

She was overjoyed to be able to move freely once again, and her excitement was all captured on video. Now, every time Erica brings out the wheelchair, Pigeon bounces around with excitement, eager to go on a walk. This heartwarming video became popular in no time, and soon everyone was cheering Pigeon on, thanks to her amazing new family.
