Family’s Dog Loves Sitting On The Roof To Watch Life Go By

| May 12, 2017

Huckleberry is a Golden Retriever with a number of hobbies. He loves treats and is always up for a game of fetch, but his favorite activity is watching the world go by from a lofty perch on the rooftop.

According to a sign posted by his owners, the smart pup learned how to climb onto the roof from the backyard.

While seeing a dog sitting on top of a house can be alarming, his humans ensure everyone he’s perfectly safe. After receiving several visits from concerned passersby, they decided they needed the sign.  “Don’t Be Alarmed!” it says in big bold letters.

“We never leave him in the backyard without someone being at home. He will not jump off unless you entice him with food or a ball! We appreciate your concern, but please do not knock on our door…we know he’s up there!”

IG

Huck’s humans trust the dog to be responsible with his roof-time excursions. He simply loves his rooftop view, and they don’t have the heart to keep his four paws on the ground. Spending time on the roof is normal for Huckleberry, but his humans realize it’s not something the average dog would do. In their note, they encourage people to take pictures and “share them with the world.” They even came up with Huck’s personal hashtag, #hucktheroofdog.

Whether Huckleberry is spying on his neighbors or pondering the meaning of life, the pup can be found sitting stoically on his rooftop nearly every day. People can’t help but talk about his surprising antics, and the internet has taken notice. A recent Reddit post has earned him viral fame, and the pup even has his own Instagram account.

If you’re ever driving through Austin, TX and spot Huck doing his thing, be sure to take a picture—but remember, don’t knock on the door.
