Father & Son Stayed Behind & Worked Together To Save Abandoned Dogs During The Texas Flooding

About a week ago, we featured a story about a dog who was abandoned during the severe flooding in Texas. The poor dog was found tethered and up to her neck in flood waters. Thankfully, she was saved by Sheriff Troy E. Nehls, who also ended up adopting her!

But that dog was just one among the many dogs who were abandoned during the flood. Thankfully, some kindhearted people stepped up to save these dogs.

Reddit user DUSTYHAM posted photos of his dad and his brother who stayed behind to save the dogs who were abandoned when their families evacuated.

The duo had a boat and they had to make several trips to save as many dogs as possible.

In total, they were able to save as many as 40 dogs!

We salute these amazing people for the work they’ve done!

The SPCA of Brazoria county created a temporary shelter for the abandoned dogs. They will take care of the dogs until they the owners come and claim them. If not, they will find foster homes and the dogs will be put up for adoption.

To those who are looking for their dogs, this is what SPCA posted on Facebook,

FLOOD UPDATE: Wednesday, June 8.

People who are looking for lost pets should check at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds…

They also made an album of the dogs rescued from the Flood.

SPCA Brazoria is also asking people for donations such as lightweight blankets, bath towels, and other supplies.

Monetary donations for vet supplies, medications and vaccines are also accepted. If you’d like to help these poor dogs, you can send a donation HERE
