Finn was one of 36 dogs rescued from severe abuse and neglect. The poor pup had cigarette burns all over his body, and he had been reduced to skin and bones. As you can imagine, he was depressed, disconnected, and distant.
But with lots of love and patience, this sweet boy slowly felt secure enough to let his super-silly personality show.
When his new family brought Finn home, it took a solid two weeks for him to feel comfortable in any capacity. He clearly wasn’t shown any love whatsoever in his former life. He was so severely emaciated that his bones were practically poking out through his skin. Finn’s immune system had essentially shut down from lack of nutrition, and he was fighting multiple infections.
So they immediately got him on antibiotics and did their best to make him as comfortable as possible. They set him up with a ton of pillows and blankets, and he was given a comfy couch in his own private bedroom to snuggle up on as he healed.
While taking short walks together, Finn and his new family finally started to connect.
“Dogs like Finn are very complicated, and you really need to listen to their needs. But we have a bond together that’s untouchable and so unique. One I can’t even compare to other relationships with dogs,” says his mom.
Then, little by little, they started to see his precious personality start to emerge. He was finally feeling better and secure enough to be his silly self. Gone was the dog who constantly sought places to hide!
Now, Finn is a big clumsy clown who adores his rescue sisters, Po and Penny. He spends approximately 20 minutes a day doing zoomies around the backyard. The rest of the day is spent snoozing in luxury.
“I wasn’t sure how bringing him home would unfold, but I was committed to making it work, and it did. And over time, with slow integration, it was one of the most magical relationships I’d seen dogs develop with one another. They needed each other really bad,” Finn’s mom says.
Finn is living his best life with a loving family who will never give up on him.
