While gassing up near the Grand Canyon, a man noticed a stray dog coming from the desert to grab a discarded Starbucks bag for food. The dog was hesitant to let anyone get close, but the man couldn’t bear to leave her there. He decided to get his camper and prepared to stay in the area for a while, determined to rescue the dog he named Haseya.

Locals donated treats and a trap to help catch the smart canine, but she quickly figured out how the trap worked. She sniffed around it, curious about the treats inside, but then got spooked by a car and bolted back into the canyon. This prompted the man to use a drone to locate her. After spotting Haseya’s big, puffy white tail, the man had hope once again. Soon, the pup came back into the parking lot, too tired and defeated to fight rescue.

After a 26-hour ride home and a visit to the vet for an exam and vaccines, the man’s biggest concern was whether the dog would get along with his other animals. To his pleasant surprise, Haseya and his cat quickly became inseparable, with the dog licking the cat’s forehead and cleaning his ears.

The man’s other dog, Marbles, was introduced to Haseya after they had become accustomed to each other’s scent. The two dogs hit it off immediately, playfully bowing and wrestling for hours on end. Marbles even seemed to be teaching Haseya how to “dog.”

Now, the once-stray dog smiles, knowing she’ll never have to worry again. She prances like a deer wherever she goes, her tail always up in the air. This heartwarming story of rescue and friendship is a testament to the power of love and the resilience of animals.
