Determined to find and rescue the young canines, Jacob, accompanied by his sister Hannah, rushed to the specified location.
Upon their arrival, Jacob and Hannah discovered the puppies and quickly ushered all seven into their car. During the journey, the siblings noted that some of the puppies suffered from mange, a concern, albeit a treatable one, which meant a visit to the veterinarian was imminent. Jacob captured the rescue on video, expressing his dismay at the abandonment, “Honestly, it’s just so sad and sickening that someone would just abandon these guys on the side of the road.”
Contrary to what might be expected from such a traumatic experience, the puppies displayed cheerful and energetic demeanors throughout the car ride, even though one of the puppies’ actions in the car led Hannah to suspect they were also suffering from worms.
Once at home, Jacob and Hannah set up a pen for the puppies and started planning their immediate care. They identified that the litter consisted of two females and five males and made a public appeal for adoption. They prepared a hearty meal for the puppies, which proved to be a slightly chaotic yet joyous affair as they tried to herd the excited bunch into a second pen for feeding.
After the meal, the siblings administered flea treatments, a necessary but time-consuming task. Jacob noted the puppies’ swollen bellies, a common indicator of worms, and reassured that the puppies relaxed as they realized they were being handled with care.
