Jax was such a dog, enduring abuse and neglect from an owner who left him starved and beaten. Just as he lost all hope, a new chapter in his life began with the intervention of a kind-hearted individual. This person alerted the SMART Saving Missing Animals Response Team, a nonprofit in Palm Coast, Florida, dedicated to aiding mistreated and abandoned animals. Caroline Johnson, the organization’s founder, hurried to assist.
Upon encountering Jax, Johnson was heartbroken to see him in such a dire state, barely able to stand, his ribs visible under his thin coat.
