John and his dog Dolly are “constant companions.” John’s daughter Katie adopted Dolly after being rescued from a backyard breeder. Soon after, Katie moved her father next door to her so she could help care for him during his golden years.

Katie’s dad was alone while she was at work, so moving Dolly in with John made perfect sense. Dolly willingly went with John. As Katie puts it, she followed him right into his apartment and never left. And now the pair are stuck together like glue!

Dolly loves to go for long walks in the park, but when she tires, she tends to lie down and refuse to move. Adorably, John likes when Dolly lazes about. He picks her up and happily carries her the rest of the way. The pup also doesn’t like being left behind, and Katie and John take her with them anywhere she’s allowed to be, including the hair salon and certain restaurants.

At 86 years young, John’s friends have passed or moved away. He no longer has to face a lonely world, not with Dolly forever by his side. John also jokingly says because of Dolly, he’s not a “grouchy old guy.” This endearing story is exactly what you need right now! Trust us; you’ll be all smiles!
