87-year-old John is a loving father and a doting dog owner. He spends a whopping four hours a day giving his dog, Dolly, massages. Their unique and heartwarming relationship is not just about the massages, but it’s about the unbreakable bond that they share, which goes beyond the realms of a typical pet-owner relationship. Dolly gives John purpose and John gives Dolly everything she craves and more. While she admittedly spoiled, John wouldn’t have it any other way. Together, they make the most adorable team, and seeing them interact will totally make your day!
John is a complete pushover when it comes to Dolly, and it’s clear that she’s equally obsessed with him. He cannot sit peacefully in a chair without Dolly demanding attention, and being the softy he is, he always gives in to her demands. Dolly follows John everywhere and waits for him by the door if he goes out. She is undoubtedly a diva, only doing what she wants to do, and John wouldn’t have it any other way.
When they go for walks, Dolly often decides she doesn’t want to walk anymore and simply lies down. John then picks her up and carries her for the rest of the walk. He enjoys being her ‘manservant,’ and their unique relationship is endearing. He even lets her sleep on his bed, something he has never done with any other dog they’ve had.
Whenever they go out for dinner, John shares his meal with Dolly, making sure she gets her fair share. They also take her to the hairdresser, out to restaurants, and on vacations. Dolly is like a security blanket for John – if she’s not there, John feels out of sorts.
John has been diagnosed with mild Alzheimer’s, and Dolly has played a crucial role in providing comfort and keeping his brain active and entertained. It’s evident that he wouldn’t be doing as well as he is today if it weren’t for her presence in his life. They seem to be made for each other, and their bond is truly inspiring.
Dolly has enhanced John’s life in more ways than one.
