When a dog goes missing, it leaves a hole in their family’s hearts. They are left wondering where they are and if they are okay. A dozen scenarios race through their heads, and it can eat away at their core. One man, however, clung to the hope that he would find his companion one day after his precious pup named Jorge accidentally got loose. He scoured the streets, put up ‘lost dog’ posters, and called every shelter he could think of. The doting dad refused to give up for three entire years.

Just as the gentleman assumed Jorge would never return to him, he got a surprising phone call. A stray dog matching his pup’s description was spotted downtown. He tried to maintain his composure as he got into his car and drove. The man parked his car and walked toward where the stray had been resting.

The pup, exhausted from surviving on his own, with an ear tag indicating that he had been neutered, was curled in a ball asleep in a planter bed. The man ran to him after noticing he was the same color and size as Jorge. It was instant! Jorge’s dad knew it was him. He called out his name from a distance, but the dog merely glanced up. He called out his name again once he was closer and with excitement in his voice. Jorge sat up, wide-eyed.

Jorge looked at the man. It had been three long years and the streets had taken a toll on him. As soon as Jorge concentrated on the man’s smell and combined that with his voice, he knew that his dad was finally here. The pup wagged his tail like crazy and cried along with his dad. The reaction of both the dog and his father is too heartwarming to miss. Click ‘play’ on the short video below to see the story unfold.
